Grand Jury Indicts Ball Mayor and Police Chief

A federal grand jury in Shreveport this afternoon indicts Ball Mayor Roy Hebron, Police Chief Jay Barber and three other city employes. They are accused of defrauding FEMA for personal gain. The six-page indictment says the five overstated the hours worked during Hurricane Gustav and the amount used by town vehicles during the emergency a year ago. Town records were seized earlier this year. Hebron has been mayor since 19-87, and Barber has been chief since July 2008. Click here for a copy of the indictment.
