It's the zoo's way of raising 'fun and funds' in hopes of continuing Les Whitt's grand vision for the Alexandria Zoo. Whitt was Zoo Director from 1974 until his death in August 2008. All proceeds from Les Fest will go to zoo projects.

Lace up your shoes and make tracks to the 5K run and 1 Mile Fun Walk. Awards will be given to the top three male and female 5K finishers in each age category\, and the top overall male and female 5K finishers will receive a special award. All paid participants whose registrations are received by August 11 are guaranteed a Les Fest t-shirt. Stick around after the run for a free day at the Zoo.
